About the role
As our next Weekend Operations Officer, you’ll will be part of a passionate, dedicated team, working in varied environments.
You will work closely with contractors, stakeholders and other employees of Leeds City Council and create close working relationships with all.
- Provide visible leadership across designated sites on a rota basis.
- Support staff in managing escalated issues,
- Take the lead in emergency situations in line with the service's business continuity plan, and ensure that all activity taking place is in line with the designated health and safety arrangements

Job purpose:
Working as part of the Climate, Energy and Green Spaces team, you will demonstrate the council values and behaviours to help us to achieve our ambition to become the best city council in the country. You will provide weekend and Bank Holiday cover to supervise outlets, attractions and events, ensuring high standards of performance and efficiency, and the safe operation of activities.
Flexibility is essential as the role is peripatetic, covering several of the outlets and attractions within the service as determined by the weekend management rota. The role is three days per week (Saturday and Sunday plus one other day) and attracts salary enhancements for weekend and Bank Holiday working
Responsibilities
- Provide visible leadership and supervision for specified outlets as determined by the management rota.
- Manage the on-the-day performance in designated sites, including sales, staff, stock, customer service and resources.
- Manage time effectively across multiple sites.
- Manage resources to maximise efficiency.
- Ensure the safe operation of activities undertaken at specified sites in line with Health and Safety arrangements.
- Manage escalated issues, including customer complaints and staffing related matters that arise during shifts.
- Act as keyholder for specified outlets and ensure that site security.
- Aware of first aid arrangements for specified sites and take prompt and effective action in the event of health and safety incidents.
- Aware of business continuity and emergency arrangements and take the lead in response to an emergency situation on site.
- Support external events that are taking place on site and ensure they are operating in line with the agreed arrangements.
- Support the service in achieving the outcomes identified by the Leadership Team in relation to service improvement activities, promotions and priority projects.

Your working week is 24 hours, over three days, incorporating Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays. Where the third working day is not a Bank Holiday, the day of the week will be agreed with your manager. For weekend and Bank Holiday working, the appropriate rates will be paid in line with agreed terms and conditions of service for Local Government Services.
