We are looking for a highly motivated skilled teaching assistant or apprentice teaching assistant to join our team in September!
The governors at West End Primary School are looking to appoint a teaching assistant to work both in class and in our nurture provision to support children with SEND needs. There is also opportunity for additional hours in our Early Years wrap around provision. The applicant will be working across all areas of the primary years, including Early Years and must have NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualifications, previous experience working with children and a strong commitment to child development or wish to take on the role as an apprentice to gain experience to support their training.
You will be expected to work under the direct instruction and guidance of the teaching staff providing support for children both in and outside the classroom. This is an exciting role with scope to grow and develop over time. You will receive full support from the Head Teacher and teaching staff and any necessary additional training will be provided. After school, you will support with the wrap around provision for our Early Years children. Delivering exciting and engaging play activities in a safe and nurturing environment.
This post will be fixed term for one year, with the possibility of extension.

- Have a positive and enthusiastic attitude and love working with children.
- Can offer experience of working with children within the last 12 months.
- Hold an NVQ Level 3 or higher qualification linked to child development or are starting training and require an apprenticeship placement.
- Have empathy and patience, with the ability to communicate well with others.
- Capability to manage challenging situations calmly.
- A willingness and enthusiasm to commit to the expectations of the role and contribute to wider school responsibilities.

8.45am – 3.15pm (Monday, Thursday, Friday)
8.45am – 4.30pm (Tuesday and Wednesday)
32.5 hours per week with the possible option of hourly increase in line with increasing wrap around demand. - Pay Grade:
B1 for experienced staff £25584 – £27,269 FTE (Actual pay will be pro-rata for TTO and actual hours).
Apprenticeship pay scale TBC in line with Leeds City Council for applicants completing training.
