The successful candidate will work under the guidance of teaching staff to provide support for pupils’ learning, welfare and personal development. You will help ensure a positive and inclusive learning environment, supporting individual and group work, and contributing to the wider life of the school. You will also support pupils with a range of needs, helping them to engage positively in their learning.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils in Key Stage 2, including those with additional needs, to access learning.
  • Using positive behaviour strategies to support pupils’ engagement and independence.
  • Assisting with the planning and delivery of learning activities.
  • Monitoring and recording pupil progress and providing feedback to teachers.
  • Promoting positive behaviour, independence and self-esteem.
  • Establishing constructive relationships with pupils, staff and parents/carers.
  • Contributing to the overall ethos and aims of the school.

The successful candidate will have:

  • NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent qualification/experience).
  • Experience of working with children of relevant age, including supporting a range of learning and additional needs.
  • Confidence in supporting positive behaviour and engagement in the classroom.
  • Good numeracy, literacy and ICT skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, inclusion and equality of opportunity.
