Key Responsibilities

• Support students in and outside the classroom under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo.
• Build positive relationships with pupils and encourage independent learning.
• Assist with personal care tasks including hygiene, feeding, and mobility support where required.
• Provide classroom support, including behaviour management, lesson preparation, and use of learning resources.
• Supervise students at breaks, lunchtimes, and on school trips.
• Promote the inclusion, safety, and well-being of all students.
• Maintain cleanliness and readiness of learning and changing areas.
• Participate in the school’s coaching model and community ethos.

Essential Requirements

• Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English/Maths or equivalent).
• Ability to build relationships with students and staff.
• Proactive, flexible, and committed to inclusive education.
• Understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality.

Desirable

• Previous experience working with children or young people.
• First Aid knowledge.
• Completion of DfE Teaching Assistant Induction Programme.
