Horsforth School is seeking to appoint a highly skilled and forward-thinking colleague to join our English team. We are a highly successful and dynamic department with a supportive and collaborative ethos. Right now we are looking for a teacher who has a real interest in helping us to fulfil our department intent – delivering a stimulating and challenging programme of study that unlocks every student’s full potential, not only for exam success, but to help them navigate the world around them with confidence and understanding.
Join us and you will be part of a fantastic English department with a strong team ethos that achieves consistently excellent GCSE and A Level results. We believe in working collaboratively, supporting each other to inspire students, at every level of ability, in order to foster an appreciation and enjoyment of English Literature and Language that goes beyond the classroom.
At Horsforth School we believe in ‘opportunity and achievement for all’, are committed to the highest outcomes for students and to develop the best opportunities for staff. We are committed to being a ‘Greenhouse School’.
For our 1600 students, Horsforth School provides an engaging environment of discovery and growth. For our colleagues too, this setting offers some great benefits. Located in North-West Leeds, the school is just five miles from the city centre with its thriving retail, leisure and cultural facilities, yet on the edge of open countryside. York, Harrogate and the Yorkshire Dales are within easy reach.
GCSE and A Level results are consistently well above the national averages and in 2022, 2023 and 2024 the school had the best state school A Level results in the whole of Leeds. Horsforth School was also named one of the top schools in Yorkshire in The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide in 2022.
