Are you an experienced SEND practitioner and a teacher with experience of teaching RE and the National Curriculum, wishing to take your career in a new, exciting direction?

St John’s Catholic Specialist School is a school for young people up to 19 years with special educational needs. Our mission is to support our students to gain the knowledge and skills they will need to thrive in adult life.

Every day is different and staff work with pupils with a range of different needs which include sensory impairments, communication and learning challenges or autism. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team of dedicated professionals who are committed to providing the very best life chances for our students.  

We are looking for an enthusiastic, inspirational and dynamic classroom practitioner to join our Religious Education Department in September 2026. The successful candidate will be both ambitious and committed to the teaching of RE. They will bring enthusiasm, dedication and ideas to the department and a desire to promote success, whilst instilling in our students a passion for the subject.

The role includes: 

  • Planning, teaching and assessing learning in an imaginative curriculum.
  • Working with a support team of knowledgeable and committed colleagues.
  • Enhancing pupils’ communication skills.
  • Promoting pupils’ self-esteem, independence and participation within the school, colleges and local community.
