About the Role

Part-time 18.5 hours per week

Working at both Leeds conservatoire and University Centre Leeds

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Student Support team based at Leeds Conservatoire and University Centre Leeds, working with higher education staff and students as a Sexual Violence Advisor.

The Sexual Violence Advisor will provide specialist advice and support to students and staff, including awareness-raising campaigns, approaches to support and complaints handling, and Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) duties.  Manage a caseload of students across Leeds Conservatoire and University Centre Leeds where there is a harassment and/or sexual violence or misconduct concern.

What You Will Do

  • Lead on relevant campaigns for both staff and students, such as induction activities, online training modules, raising awareness 
  • Working with and signposting to relevant external agencies
  • Primary contact with students and staff who report cases of harassment and sexual violence/misconduct
  • Provide specialist support in cases around sexual violence, domestic violence, and stalking, supporting the reporting party to make informed choices. 
  • Managing a caseload of students, from the point of reporting to final resolution, in cases of harassment, sexual violence and/or misconduct. 

About You

  • Recent work experience in a similar role
  • Up to date knowledge and experience on a range of safeguarding issues
  • Able to work with vulnerable people and possess the skills to maintain professional boundaries working alongside them
  • Adept at working in a trauma-informed manner, acknowledging that trauma can impact victims in different ways, and offering support with this as a priority
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with people from all areas of the community 
  • Experience of working with a range of partners and referring into their services
