Introduction to the role of the team
The Council Legal Service is looking to recruit a full time Service Development Officer to act as the service quality assurance co-ordinator and be responsible day to day performance monitoring quality initiatives within the Service and in particular with regard to maintaining the Lexcel accreditation.
Your role
You will assist in the development of the Service particularly in relation to resources prioritisation; benchmarking, efficiency and value for money; income generation and business continuity planning.
What you will bring to the role
You will have excellent communication skills and be a team player. You will be motivated, organised with good interpersonal skills and be able to prioritise your own workload and work collaboratively with Service Managers.
The successful candidatewill hold four GCSEs (Grade A-C) or equivalent including Maths and English or appropriate alternative qualifications, for example level 3 NVQ in Administration, and must have experience of using Microsoft Office programmes and can demonstrate they have experience of working in a legal or office environment.

Job Description
PURPOSE OF JOB
To act as the service quality assurance co-ordinator and be responsible day to day for embedding and performance monitoring quality initiatives within the service and in particular with regard to maintaining the Lexcel accreditation.
Contribute to the development of a performance management and service improvement culture, by supporting service managers in ensuring that performance management and service improvement arrangements are effectively embedded within the service.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To act as the service quality assurance co-ordinator and support the Team Leader on quality accreditations, and in particular with maintaining the Lexcel accreditation, including:
1.1 To review, improve, update and maintain the service electronic Lexcel policies and procedures to ensure they meet the Law Society Lexcel standard.
1.2 To coordinate the annual external Lexcel assessment.
1.3 To monitor performance and improve compliance against the Lexcel standard through the preparation and analysis of high standard performance reports from the service Data And Time-recording System (DATS).
- To assist the Team Leader in implementing, improving, developing and maintaining systems, processes and procedures as required both in the section and service-wide.
- To assist the Team Leader with development and performance initiatives in respect of the service Data And Time-recording System (DATS).
- To assist the Team Leader with customer and client care initiatives and to be responsible for monitoring and presenting customer and client care reports for the management team.
- To coordinate and monitor the service health and safety recording and reporting.
- To develop and produce handbooks and guides for the service and the wider directorate as required.
- To be responsible for the monitoring and administration associated with the provision of work placements within the service.
- To contribute to service improvement initiatives and make suggestions for the improvement of processes and services.
- To have a can do attitude and actively contribute to initiatives within the team, service and within Resources & Housing Directorate generally.
- To carry out such other duties as may from time to time be required, which are commensurate with the purpose and grading of the post.

QUALIFICATIONS
Four GCSEs (Grade A-C) or equivalent including Maths and English or appropriate alternative qualifications, for example level 3 NVQ in Administration, and must have at least 2 yearsexperience of using Microsoft Office programmes and can demonstrate s/he has 12 months experience in the past 5 years of working in a legal or office environment.
