Hours: 28
Contract: Permanent
Location: Farsley Farfield Primary School
Closing Date and Time: Wednesday 12 November
After its current post-holder secured a major promotion, Farsley Farfield Primary School is seeking to appoint a Senior Learning Mentor at its busy campus just off the ring road on the border between Leeds and Bradford. The post-holder will lead a small team of part-time assistant mentors across its two sites providing pastoral, safeguarding and family support for our diverse school community.
This post is less than full-time. The current post-holder works 28 hours across 4 days. We are open to some negotiation and flexibility around this and could be open to slightly reduced hours if this suited a strong candidate. This post is term-time only to start in January 2026 (or earlier if circumstances allow).
We are a very inclusive school, with around 35 children having an EHCP or FFI funding. Ofsted described our provision for SEND as ‘exceptional’. The inspector also described our safeguarding provision as ‘highly effective’ in her feedback. Can you help us to sustain and build on our excellent practice in these areas?
The successful candidate needs to be the sort of person that is optimistic, imaginative and energetic. Experience of successfully leading family, pastoral and/or safeguarding support previously would be a significant advantage.
Are you:
- Looking for a post where you can really make a difference and have significant responsibility?
- Able to provide effective pastoral and family support?
- Able to work diligently to secure positive outcomes for the most vulnerable children and those needing protection?
- Able to lead, challenge and empower staff, parents, carers and children?
- An excellent role model and effective at motivating and supporting a team?
We can offer:
- A fabulous mix of children - socio-economically, ethnically and in terms of academic standards - and supportive wider school community
- Engaging children who are enthusiastic and excited to learn
- Plenty of space, inside and out, to provide wonderful learning, sporting and recreational opportunities - the best primary school grounds a recent DfE surveyor had ever seen
- Talented, hardworking and imaginative staff who make working together a pleasure
- Supportive families
- A commitment to your professional development
An ability or willingness to drive a minibus would be welcome. Confidence with IT would be essential.
Farsley Farfield Primary School is a large, popular, consistently ‘good’ school with an intake of 60 and 440 pupils on roll (including up to 52 nursery children), and a Children’s Centre (for now). In 2017, we were awarded prestigious TES national Healthy School of the Year in recognition of our extensive and ambitious work on food and physical activity.
We are a split-site school on one fabulous green campus. This post will operate on both sites which are 200-300m apart - you will get your ‘steps’ in! This is a rewarding place to work.
We would welcome you to visit our lovely school prior to submitting your application. Please email the school if you would like to arrange this. We would also strongly recommend browsing our website and class blogs to get an insight into our school and our ways of working.
Closing date: Wednesday 12th November 2025
Interview and assessment day: Thursday 20th November 2025
Application forms can be downloaded from the vacancies page of our website Vacancies | Farsley Farfield Primary School, and completed forms should be emailed directly to office@farsleyfarfield.org.uk. CVs are not accepted.
