School Nurse
Required September 2025 / Permanent Contract / Term time only / 25 Hours per week
Salary: Starting salary from £37,338 (pro rata £21,832.25 for TTO and part time) dependent on qualifications and experience
St John’s Catholic Specialist School is a school for young people up to 19 years with special educational needs. Our mission is to support our students to gain the knowledge and skills they will need to thrive in adult life. Every day is different, and staff work with pupils with a range of different needs, which include sensory impairments, communication and learning challenges or autism.
We are seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced School Nurse interested in progressing their career in working within a specialist setting. Duties of the role includes:
· Responsible for the routine healthcare of pupils.
· Work collaboratively with therapists, audiologist, teachers, learning support assistants and carestaff.
· Responsibility for medical records.
· Provide recommendations and guidance to parents/ carers, colleagues in school and other professionals.
· Ensure colleagues are aware of the relevant guidance and emerging trends in relation to health care.
· Responsibility for the administration of medication, including the training of staff.
· Develop and deliver programmes to promote healthy lifestyles amongst the pupils.
· Participate fully in whole school training sessions and meetings
· Monitoring the effectiveness of health care in the school.
· Play a full part in the life of the school community, supporting the ethos, rules and regulations
