Location: Merrion House with requirement to work in WYCA project office. Hybrid working available.

To support the Mass Transit team to contribute to the successful delivery on the key objectives of the Highways and Transportation service priorities and business development opportunities aligned to the Mass Transit Programme.

To support the Transportation Team to work collaboratively with other Highways and Transportation teams, key partners and other stakeholders in governance of projects, improving performance, and delivering change.

About you
As Scheme Support Officer (Mass Transit), you will bring to the role:

  • Ability to contribute to the Mass Transit and wider transportation team management providing business and financial support
  • Ability to provide support to designated budget holders as required identifying any skills gaps to allow them to undertake their budget holder role.
  • Experience of supporting project governance, collation and reporting of actions and organising project documentation
  • Ability to be responsible for key performance data collection and facilitating the administration of risk based information

About the role

As Scheme Support Officer (Mass Transit) you will assist the Mass Transit and wider Transportation management team in contributing towards supporting a team of staff as required within the Directorate to ensure the delivery of specific outcomes within agreed deadlines.

The position will join our emerging Mass Transit team within the wider Highways and Transportation service capability.

Job Description

Job Purpose:

To support the Mass Transit team to contribute to the successful delivery on the key objectives of the Highways and Transportation service priorities and business development opportunities aligned to the Mass Transit Programme. 

To support the Transportation Team to work collaboratively with other Highways and Transportation teams, key partners and other stakeholders in governance of projects, improving performance, and delivering change.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Mass Transit and wider Transportation management team in contributing towards supporting a team of staff as required within the Directorate to ensure the delivery of specific outcomes within agreed deadlines.
  • To provide support to designated budget holders as required identifying any skills gaps to allow them to undertake their budget holder role.
  • Contribute to the Mass Transit and wider transportation team management providing business and financial support
  • Supporting project governance, collation and reporting of actions and organising project documentation
  • Responsible for key performance data collection and facilitating the administration of risk based information
  • Monitoring and facilitating invoice processes both internally across council directorates and externally with consultants and contractors
  • Assisting in the management of social media communications and its use in relation to specific engineering schemes and the day to day running of the business
  • Providing statistical information to senior officers in relation to scheme progress and data gathering
  • Flexible and adaptable to change to assist other services as required commensurate to grade  
  • Participate in appraisal, training, and development activities as necessary to ensure up to date knowledge and skills
  • To improve own practice through observation, evaluation, discussion with colleagues and appropriate CPD programmes.
  • To work collaboratively with colleagues, knowing when to seek help and advice.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos, work, and aims of the service by attending relevant meetings, training days/events as requested.

Qualifications 

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
