About the role
You will be responsible for the smooth running of the gym environment. Key aspects of the post involve developing programmes for customers, using a variety of technology to influence the member journey as well as ensuring a high level of customer care is achieved.

Job Description
Job Purpose:
- To enable customers to exercise in a friendly & safe environment.
- To carry out a range of activities to assist in the provision of sport and leisure activities, customer satisfaction, health and safety and provide a quality service.
Responsibilities:
- The provision of a quality customer focused service aimed at repeat visits which includes resolving customer’s comments, complaints & enquires, delivering services to an agreed standard & increasing customer retention.
- Administers Basic First Aid as necessary and as appropriate to your qualification and report accidents, injuries and incidents as per procedure.
- Induct & instruct customers on the correct use of equipment and complete the PAR-Q form.
- Interact with customers to aid customer retention.
- Assess customer fitness levels and lifestyle to develop programmes which meet their needs and which set targets/goals.
- Ensure equipment is used in a correct and safe manner.
- Conduct regular equipment inspections in accordance with the SOP and daily check lists.
- Clean the gym equipment as detailed within the SOP. And daily checklists.
- Undertake basic fitness equipment maintenance.
- To ensure promotion and support of Equal Opportunities and Health & Safety.
- To undertake any other duties, as directed by the supervisor, commensurate with your grade and level of responsibility.
- Contribute to the performance of the facility, ensuring the centre offers a customer focused service.
Progression Criteria to A2:
- To supervise gym activities, identifying potential hazards and taking appropriate action in line with the centres Standard Operating Procedures, Emergency Action Plans and industry guidelines.
- Maintain and update a fitness qualification by attending relevant CPD training as required by the service, and by attending first aid training sessions as per Leeds City Council corporate guidelines.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Level 2 Certificate in Fitness instruction (Gym) or equivalent.
- Gym Instructor NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
- Emergency First Aid Qualification to be gained within 3 months of appointment.
- Kettlebells Qualification to be gained within 3 months of appointment.
