Ready to change lives?
At West SILC, we do things differently—and in The Powerhouse, Farsley, our Post-16 department, we are changing what’s possible for young adults with special educational needs.
We are looking for an inspiring, adaptable, and passionate Post-16 Teacher to join our Life-Changing Pathway, where learners are empowered to live more independently and, where appropriate, gain meaningful employment.
Our innovative curriculum is split into two dynamic strands:
🟡 Learning to Live – Real-world life skills in our immersive Hub life skills suite
🟡 Learning to Earn – Vocational and enterprise learning in our Foundry, featuring real-world work environments including a training warehouse (built by Amazon!), café, office, and more.
Why teach at West SILC?
✅ You’ll deliver hands-on, person-centred learning that prepares learners for adulthood, in immersive, real-world learning in state-of-the-art simulated environments built around real-life experience
✅ You’ll inspire independence, confidence and employment readiness
✅ You’ll join a passionate, forward-thinking, values-led team with a shared mission: to equip our learners with confidence, skills, and independence
✅ You’ll see real-world outcomes – our learner’s transition successfully into supported internships, employment, and independent living
What we’re looking for:
✔ A qualified teacher (QTS/QTLS) who believes in educating for life, not just lessons
✔ Experience of working with learners with SEND (including MLD, SLD, ASD, SEMH, or complex needs)
✔ Someone with energy, creativity, and a drive to rethink what education can look like
✔ A team player who builds relationships with learners, families, and employers
In return, we offer:
- A warm, inclusive and values-driven school
- Extensive CPD and career development opportunities
- A progressive curriculum that empowers educators to innovate
- A strong, supportive team who care deeply about each other and our learners
