OVERVIEW
- Title: PLAY WORKER
- Job Summary: To work at the out of school club providing high quality childcare in compliance with the Club’s policies and procedures.
- Responsible to: The Manager and Directors.
- Responsible for: Children attending the Club.
- Location: Positions at both St. Mary’s CVA, Horsforth & Holy Name CVA, Cookridge
- Hours: Between 19-22.5hrs/week. (To be discussed)

MAIN DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Planning, preparing and delivering quality play opportunities within a safe and caring environment.
- Providing refreshments and ensuring that hygiene, health and safety standards are met.
- To work with other team members with children aged between 4 and 11 years, based in the designated out of school club area but also using the outdoor area and other areas as appropriate.
- Administer first aid when necessary.
- Contribute ideas for learning and planning and use initiative.
- The group of children you will be responsible for covers a wide age range, and you will need to ensure the different groups can gel and play happily together, as well as supporting inclusive practice for children with additional needs.
- Setting up the play space including moving furniture and play equipment.
- You will ensure the safety and well-being of all children in your care, and report concerns to your line manager.
- Work within the framework of the club’s policies and procedures, and the Early Years Foundation Stage.
- Carry out other duties that may reasonably be regarded as within the nature of duties, responsibilities and grade of this post.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
Essential Qualities
- In view of working with children, an enhanced DBS check is required, you must therefore not have any convictions or cautions, previous or current, that are relevant when working with children.
- Experience of working with 5-11yr olds
- Pride in your work, and the ability to work as part of a dedicated team is also key.
- You must be committed to undertake any other necessary training with our approved training provider.
Desirable Qualities
- Level 2/3 childcare or play work qualification (Or equivalent childcare qualification.)
- Paediatric First Aid Certificate
- Level 2 Safeguarding training.
