Asquith Primary School is a forward-thinking, friendly and inclusive primary school. We pride ourselves on being a school that offers our pupils a well-rounded and enjoyable education, and place great emphasis on giving our children a wide range of opportunities in the arts, music, outdoor learning and sport. As part of the Morley Primary Partnership our children and staff enjoy enhanced opportunities for collaboration with peers and colleagues across the other 8 Morley Primary Partnership schools. The Governors, staff and children of the school are seeking a Pastoral & Welfare Manager to join our educational support team.

We are looking for someone who will take a lead role within the school to help pupils to overcome barriers to learning both inside and outside of the school, in order to enable them to reach their full potential, by: -

  • taking a lead role in the Safeguarding provision across school – acting as Deputy DSL
  • being the Attendance Champion - driving the attendance agenda to ensure children arrive punctually, attendance at least meets national standards and persistent absence improves
  • taking a lead role in the management of Behaviour across school
  • being the Well-Being Champion – promote, identify and signpost children and their families to local and national health and wellbeing support
  • providing effective co-ordination and management of school playtimes, lunchtimes and oversight of the school’s extended day provision (Breakfast & After-School clubs)
  • providing effective co-ordination and management of First Aid and other medical provision.

You will need to:

  • Have experience of working within a pastoral role, or other relevant experience
  • Have line management experience
  • Be committed to inclusion
  • Have proven experience of supporting pupils with challenging behaviours and be emotionally resilient
  • Be able to de-escalate possible conflict and challenging situations
  • Have a flexible approach to working - the oversight of the Breakfast & After-School clubs will, on occasion, require some flexibility in working hours
  • Work well as part of a team and have good interpersonal skills
  • Have a positive outlook
  • Hold Team Teach & First Aid qualifications, or be prepared to undertake these once in position
  • Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
  • Genuinely care about children and improving their life chances through positive school experiences.

In return, we can offer:

  • a friendly, welcoming school
  • a supportive and forward-thinking leadership team
  • a great team of dedicated and committed staff
  • a commitment to your professional development and an exciting opportunity to work closely with the other schools in Morley
