Mount St Mary’s is a successful and oversubscribed inner city school located in the very heart of the city. Drawing from three of the four compass points the school flourishes in an atmosphere of engagement and aspiration drawing hugely upon the experiences of our incredibly diverse community.
In April 2019 the school underwent a Section 48 Inspection gaining an overall judgement of Good with Outstanding. The report comments "Students are polite, confident and respectful in the way they treat each other and interact with staff and visitors. They are .. highly articulate and proud of their school and their personal achievements. Behaviour in school is excellent and a strength of the school as it reflects its Catholic character."
Our most recent Section 5 Ofsted Inspection found us to be a highly inclusive school where students recognise the positive impact it has on their lives. A school where the curriculum is expertly delivered and students can describe their learning with clarity. Students behave impeccably, consequently lessons are calm and purposeful and rates of attendance are consistently high. Students are exceptionally well prepared for life beyond school and flourish in a climate where exemplary leadership has an unwavering focus on ensuring all students succeed.
With the return to national progress comparatives in 2022, Mount St Mary’s topped both local and regional tables for P8. This success was replicated in 2023, and again in 2024, where we continue to buck the national trends.
All students seek to access extracurricular activities beyond the school day, be that of a sporting nature, academic, performing arts or public speaking. This is an area we value highly and continue to see growth in.
Required for as soon as possible.
The successful candidate will be based in a Year Office and work in close partnership with one of our teaching Year Leaders, to support and develop the structures and protocols which aid the pastoral and academic progress of our students. Our Pastoral Support Officers provide the first line of communication for our families. The development of this key relationship is strengthened by working with the same cohort of students throughout their 5 year journey. Pastoral Support Officers play a full and active role in the planning, administration and evaluation of key year group events such as parents' evenings, residentials and reward trips along with a multitude of other aspects of the year team intent.
