Leeds Sailing and Activity Centre (LSAC) is looking for highly motivated individuals with experience of Instructing and Delivering Outdoor Activities to join our team of Instructors at LSAC to help expand our service.

About you
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Instructors with one or more of the following qualifications.
- RYA Assistant Dinghy Sailing Instructor, or higher
- RYA Start Windsurf Instructor, or higher
- RYA Powerboat Instructor
- Paddlesport Instructor, Paddlesport Leadership Award, or higher; or an LSAC Statement of Competence for Paddlesports
- SUP Coach/Instructor or Leadership Qualification
- RYA Safety Boat
- Bell Boat Helm Award.
- Off Road biking Instructor/Leader Qualification.
- British Rowing Session Coach, or higher.
- Archery GB Instructor Award
- MLTE Rock Climbing Instructor or Climbing Wall Instructor
- Must also hold a valid current First Aid Qualification
About the role
LSAC is looking for a highly motivated individual with knowledge and experience of instructing Outdoor Activities to join our team of Instructors at Leeds Sailing and Activity Centre in delivering a wide-ranging high quality activity programme, and to help expand our service.
Using your experience and qualifications you will help develop and promote Outdoor Activities at LSAC, whilst ensuring good customer satisfaction, maintaining health and safety standards, and provide a quality service to the highest standards.
This role will include evenings and weekend working.

Job Purpose
To deliver a safe and high-quality Outdoor Activity Programme for all ages and abilities at LSAC.
To develop and promote the programme of Outdoor Activities at LSAC working in conjunction with the Centre Manager.
Maintain a good and positive image of the City Council to customers and the public generally by providing a welcoming, helpful and professional service.
Responsibilities for Grade
To deliver a range of high quality and safe coaching sessions that are accessible to all.
To work with the Senior Instructor/Centre Manager to promote a range of high quality and safe coaching sessions, on and offsite, that are accessible to all.
To deliver sessions in a professional manner in accordance with the City Council and National Governing Body Codes of Conduct.
To support the identification and progression of talented young people and encourage further development into local exit routes.
To take positive steps to identify and overcome barriers to participation amongst young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
To undertake administrative tasks in connection with programmes of work. i.e., Registers, monitoring and evaluation forms, risk assessments etc.
To assist in establishing and coaching new junior clubs/sections after school or in the community.
To identify new programme developments for LSAC.
To visit and promote LSAC within schools, colleges and at external events.
To undertake the accountabilities of the post in accordance with council policies including the Equal Opportunities, Child Protection Policies, and Health & Safety Policies.
To undertake any other duties which may be assigned from time to time, as directed by the line manager which may be reasonably required of you, that are commensurate with the grade of the post and your level of responsibility.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Applicant must hold a current valid First Aid qualification.
Candidates must have one of the Essential qualifications below:
- RYA Assistant Dinghy Instructor, or higher.
- RYA Start Windsurf Instructor, or higher.
- RYA Powerboat Instructor.
- Paddlesport Instructor, Paddlesport Leadership Award, or LSAC Statement of Competence.
- SUP Coach/Instructor, or Leadership.
Essential requirements It is essential that the candidate should be able to demonstrate the following criteria for the post. Candidates will only be shortlisted for interview if they can demonstrate that they meet all the essential requirements.

- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people.
- Able to adapt to the needs of individuals and different work situations.

- Able to evaluate lesson planning and implement to deliver good outdoor activity lessons.
- Ability to work with user groups who may have Special Needs.
- Knowledge of the National and Local Structures and development initiatives in Outdoor Activities.
- Knowledge of Risk Assessments, Health and Safety Guidelines, Child Protection and Welfare Issues.
- Experience instructing Outdoor Activities and experience in delivering to a wide range of client groups, and of safe working practices.
- Experience of planning and co-ordinating coaching sessions.
- Experience of supervising and motivating adults and children.
- Experience of working with groups of mixed age and ability.
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends.
- Willing to work in a professional and responsible manner.
