In recent years, our academy has undergone significant transformation and responsiveness to the changing educational landscape. We are a forward-looking school unafraid to push boundaries, embrace new challenges, and continuously develop our practice.

Role

The academy is seeking an Inclusion Leader to work within our Internal alternative provision: Connect. The successful candidate will provide bespoke support and guidance to individuals and groups of students which will remove barriers to learning both inside and outside of the academy. The successful candidate will ensure all students can achieve their full potential, will have a restorative approach, and will work in collaboration with the Inclusion and Pastoral team.

As part of the Inclusion team, the Inclusion Leader will be responsible for fostering lasting change within the school community, with a focus on supporting the development of the Academy’s inclusive practices. This includes working closely with students who require additional academic and emotional support through the Connect provision.

Connect is a newly established, strategic provision at Leeds East Academy, designed specifically to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. It forms an essential part of the school’s broader SEND and Inclusion offer. The provision aims to provide a nurturing, structured environment where students can receive the support they need to re-engage with learning, develop emotional resilience, and overcome barriers to education. Connect primarily supports students who are struggling to access mainstream lessons due to SEMH challenges, providing tailored, flexible approaches to their education.

The post holder will work closely with the Connect Manager to coordinate personalised learning plans for vulnerable students, ensuring that their academic progress, welfare, and personal development remain central to the provision. The role will involve working with students in Year 7-11 who require additional support to achieve their full potential, supporting both their social and academic growth within a nurturing, adapted learning environment.

Part of White Rose Academies Trust - Leeds East Academy is accelerating on a thrilling journey, which will ultimately see the school, its staff and its students, secure continued strides for the school and the community that it serves.

We are securing our vision for World Class by growing our family of exceptional education professionals; dedicated specialists and passionate leaders with the shared goal of transforming future prospects for the next generation in West Yorkshire.

The trust currently employs over 500 members of staff and is responsible for educating and developing almost 4,000 students between the ages of 3 to 16. The trust consists of three secondary schools - Leeds City Academy, Leeds East Academy and Leeds West Academy, and also welcomed its first primary school Alder Tree Primary Academy on 1st December 2020.

We believe the trust is a highly desirable place of work for an ambitious professional, who will be joining one of the most supportive and talented teams in the country.
