Family Support Worker 

(37 hours per week – Term Time Only + 20 days. To start ASAP)
Scale C3 – Point 19-22, Actual £27,582 to £29,052


Hawksworth Wood Primary school is a community focused school who are friendly and welcoming. We are looking to appoint a Family Support Worker to join our Inclusion team to improve whole school attendance outcomes and reduce persistent absenteeism. The role will involve working with children, parents and carers to improve attendance across school.
We require a committed person who wants to play an active role in ensuring that pupils and families are positively supported. In return we offer the opportunity to work in an innovative and supportive environment, working as part of a wider team of school based and external professionals. Appropriate training will be given to facilitate delivery of the role.
The role involves maintaining school attendance systems and working with the Inclusion Team to investigate persistent absences and improve punctuality. The role will involve working with individual children and their families to support them with any potential barriers to consistent attendance, in order for them to achieve their full potential.
The role will also involve some Behaviour data monitoring and tracking to identify any patterns and share with the Inclusion team. Working alongside Cluster, Leeds City Council and other external agencies, as necessary, when informal systems have not been successful.

  • Identifying and connecting families with local community resources, services, and activities that address their specific needs.
  • Providing ongoing guidance and encouragement to empower families in achieving their goals.
  • When appropriate to take the role of lead practitioner in the Early Help Assessment to support positive outcomes for families.
  • To provide advice, support and guidance to promote learning and positive parenting skills utilising appropriate frameworks and evidence based approaches.
  • To ensure that all files/records are maintained in line with relevant guidelines and policies, including recording of information on relevant electronic database systems, and participate in all appropriate meetings.
  • To undertake appropriate referrals to specialist and statutory services where needs are identified within the Early Help Assessment in line with relevant Information Sharing Protocols.
  • To self-manage your own challenging and demanding workload of cases, seeking support where necessary, and undertake research, and apply knowledge regarding emerging best practice.
