We are currently seeking a cleaner, for Ripon House, Leeds, LS2 9NZ.
About us: Progress To Change runs two Approved Premises (formerly known as Probation and Bail Hostels) in Leeds. Ripon House provides a service for women offenders and Cardigan House works with male offenders. Both Approved Premises (AP) operate alongside the National Probation Service (NPS) Approved Premises. Nationally there are fourteen APs that are independently managed. All APs operate to a national agreement / rules.
Purpose of Job Role
To ensure that the accommodation premises (AP) are kept clean, safe, and tidy at all times, maintaining high standards of hygiene and ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
General Cleaning Duties
- Clean all bathrooms and toilets daily.
- Clean staff offices and interview rooms as required.
- Clean resident bedrooms when vacated and prepare them for the next occupant.
- Clean or supervise the cleaning of resident communal areas, including the lounge, pool room, coffee room, patio, yard, stairs, landings, and banisters.
Stock and Supplies
- Monitor cleaning stock levels and advise the Housekeeper of material requirements.
- When requested, distribute incoming stock to designated storage areas.
Maintenance and Safety
- Report any damage or maintenance needs promptly and ensure repairs are logged in the maintenance book.
- Ensure all cleaning equipment and substances are safely stored at the end of each working day to prevent health and safety hazards.
- Familiarise yourself with the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) data sheets, using cleaning products appropriately and wearing the necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a high standard of health, safety, and security while carrying out duties.
Laundry
- Ensure laundry systems are followed correctly and that adequate supplies are maintained.
Resident Interaction
- Ensure all interactions with residents are appropriate and maintain personal and professional boundaries at all times.
Additional Duties
- Undertake reasonable duties as requested by the Housekeeper, General Administrator, or Hostel Manager.
- Provide cover at alternative site during sickness or annual leave of other cleaners. Extra pay will be provided for such cover, with no expectation to cover all their hours.
Relevant Experience and Knowledge:
- Previous cleaning experience in a residential, hostel, or office environment.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Respectful and professional when interacting with staff and residents.
Desirable:
- Experience working within supported accommodation or similar environments.
- Knowledge of safeguarding and maintaining professional boundaries.
Hours
5 days per week Monday to Friday, 5 hours per day This is a 6 month fixed term contract.
