As a Catering Assistant you’ll be working in the city’s beautiful gallery café. You will work in the stunning Tiled Hall, catering for visitors, preparing and serving food and drink with a smile. You will offer a warm welcome and ensure the highest customer service to all visitors as well as delivering event catering within the building.

As a Catering Assistant you will bring to the role:

- Ability to prepare basic ingredients e.g. sandwiches, salads and snacks.
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of people individually, in groups and at all appropriate levels.
- Ability to account for monies and card transactions.
- Ability to work effectively unsupervised.
About the role
This is a great opportunity to be part of the Leeds Art Gallery team and work to support catering operations within the building. Based in the heart of the city, you’ll be play an important role in reaching sales targets and making sure the cafe is an integral part of the gallery visit. You will be able to work in the wonderful Tiled Hall, hand crafting delicious coffees, serving hot and cold food and also supporting room hire within the building by preparing buffet lunches and refreshments.

Job description
Job Purpose: To assist in the provision of a high quality catering service at outlets which are the responsibility of Leeds Museums and Galleries.
Responsibilities:
- Provide an efficient and polite catering service to customers offering excellent customer service.
- Assist in the preparation, display and service of food and drink.
- Clean in the kitchen and all service areas to a high standard.
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of a catering service for room hire and evening events.
- Ensure that Health and Hygiene Regulations are adhered to.
- Wear appropriate protective clothing (including rubber gloves) as requested, and any uniform/aprons as provided.
- Be able to work as part of a team and act on instructions from senior staff.
- Attend appropriate training courses as requested to ensure maximum efficiency.
- Always promote the objectives of Leeds Museums and Galleries service via the provision of a quality service.
- To work in various areas, covering commensurate duties as required.
- To undertake covering duties for the Outlet Manager and Assistant Outlet Manager as required.

Qualifications: L2 Food Hygiene is desirable and will be offered as part of the induction process.
