Working Pattern: 7.5 hours per week – 9.00am – 5.00pm on a Saturday (Minimum of 2 shifts per month required) (We are closed 5 Saturdays a year)
Leeds Weekend Care Association – Weekend Work - Care Workers/Play Workers
Weekenders Club is a voluntary Organisation, registered with Ofsted and operates as a charity funded primarily through Leeds City Council. We provide a short breaks service for children and young people with disabilities between the ages of 5 and 18 years, in two 3-hour sessions each Saturday.
Aim: At Weekenders Club our staff and volunteers are committed to creating a safe, stimulating, flexible and enjoyable environment for all children to reach their full potential. We provide activities built upon the young people’s interests, natural curiosity and matched to each child’s current and emerging capabilities.
Job Purpose: The job involves working with children and teenagers with a variety of disabilities, aged between 5 and 18 years. To be able to support and engage with 1:1's/small groups (mixed abilities/ages/challenging behaviour/complex care needs) It is essential that you have some experience of working in a disabled setting (e.g., SILC School or an ongoing disability playscheme).
The successful candidate will:
- Have experience of working with children & young people with disabilities/additional needs
- Be able to commit to working a minimum of 2 Saturdays a month (we are closed 5 weekends per year)
- Be able to attend training as required
- It is desirable (but not essential) that you have the appropriate qualification (minimum of NVQ Level 3 in play work or childcare).
