Working as part of the Council Housing Growth team modelling the LCC values and behaviours to help achieve the councils and the service ambitions. You will be supporting projects and programmes which are primarily focused on place making and the built environment. Helping to support project management functions across the council and in collaboration with partner organisations. The work is fast paced and dynamic supporting the delivery and improvement of services which meet the needs of our communities and stakeholders.

The post holder will assist in supporting projects and programmes, and project management functions to enable the delivery of the Council and partner priorities across this work. The work will incorporate a variety of activities working with services and partners in land and property, legal services, finance, property and housing management.

About you

As a Project Support Assistant, you will bring to the role:

  • Qualifications, or experience, or have transferable skills and a willingness to learn about project management.
  • The ability to communicate effectively verbally & in writing on a range of subjects.
  • Able to actively monitor correspondence, letters & enquiries and pass to the relevant member(s) of staff & follow up these enquiries.
  • Possessing good organisational skills & capable of achieving agreed deadlines & targets whilst maintaining standards / quality.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a forward- thinking, motivated, and hardworking individual to join the Council Housing Growth team, you play a key role in the Acquisitions programme helping to acquire properties which will meet the city housing needs and providing high quality affordable homes in thriving and inclusive communities.

As our next Project Support Assistant, you would be expected to confidently deal with queries from key stakeholders including members of the public and work as part of a team with strong organisation and multitasking abilities to work in the fast-paced environment.

  • Support, guidance and training will be given to the post holder to assist in effective delivery of the responsibilities and achieving progression standards.

Responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for supporting projects and providing assurance to professional project management functions; supporting projects and assist in delivering projects commensurate with grade.The role will include supporting the Council to meet a range of statutory and regulatory functions, and frontline services. Also, providing support to colleagues in providing information to ward members and other services on related project activity.

The post holder will be able to demonstrate relevant skills and experience in project management.

Qualifications

Have qualifications, or experience, or have transferable skills and a willingness to learn about project management.

Have experience, or an understanding or a willingness to learn how to use key project management software tools.

Essential requirements it is essential that the candidate should be able to demonstrate the following criteria for the post. Candidates will only be shortlisted for interview if they can demonstrate that they meet all the essential requirements.

  • To provide support to colleagues primarily across the programme and projects, including ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing on a range of subjects.
  • Demonstrate good organisational skills so that you can manage conflicting deadlines and prioritise workloads.
  • Support the maintenance of key project documentation as required - working within high levels of accuracy for tasks such as checking documents and recording numerical and alphabetical information, completeness and issue of forms & returns.
  • Ability and experience to carry out administrative duties such as data input, filing, scanning, photocopying, mail handling, diary management and supporting meetings.
  • Undertake research and obtain information to inform decisions.
  • There will be issues, challenges and different types of problems, big and small. For this reason, the post holder should have problem-solving skills that allow them to work with their team or on their own initiative to come up with solutions.
