Salary: We are committed to the development of our workforce. This role has a starting salary of £29,000 per annum (FTE £34,907), based on a 36-hour working week.
Hours: 36 hours per week
Contract: Permanent - Term Time Only + 5 days
Location: Bradford & Leeds

We are excited to be hiring an Attendance, Advice, and Intervention Officer (AAIO) to join our fantastic Attendance Service. This role is based in Leeds & Bradford.

This role is both challenging and deeply rewarding, giving you the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children, young people, and families across Leeds & Bradford.

The BCL School Attendance Team is responsible for carrying out the schools’ statutory responsibilities as outlined in the DfE "Working Together to Improve Schools Attendance Guidance" alongside other legislation.

About the Role:

As an AAIO, you will play a vital role in ensuring our schools improve school attendance & reduce persistent absence.

You will work closely with headteacher, senior school leaders and the school’s attendance officer to identify and support implementation of strategies that unblock barriers to attendance. You will provide guidance and support to schools around attendance and facilitate the sharing of best practice.

You will have regular meetings with key contact in schools to identify pupils and cohorts of pupils at risk of poor attendance then agree targeted actions for those pupils or cohorts. You will support the development and the organisation of the attendance improvement networks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Using data, identify key areas of concern in schools and work with those schools’ staff to implement strategies to improve school attendance.
  • Carry out Targeted Support Meetings in our Schools.
  • Follow the Local Authorities Fast Track & Legal Processes
  • Conduct Home Visits to pupils’ homes
  • Advise colleagues and external partners on attendance guidance and regulations and how they can support families they are working with where attendance is a concern.
  • Carry out Children Missing Education enquiries.
  • Plan and facilitate sharing of best practice network meetings for an allocation of schools.

Your application:
