Assistant Headteacher – Inclusion & SENCo

Rosebank Primary School is seeking to appoint an exceptional Assistant Headteacher for Inclusion and SENCo to join our Senior Leadership Team from September 2026.

This is a key strategic role, leading inclusion across the school and ensuring that all pupils — particularly those with SEND, SEMH, EAL and disadvantage — achieve strong outcomes and feel a genuine sense of belonging.

The role includes responsibility for leading SEND provision and fulfilling the SENCo role, ensuring high-quality, compliant and impactful provision for all pupils with additional needs.  This is a non-class-based role, with some teaching commitment linked to targeted interventions, specialist support and class cover, enabling the successful candidate to model high-quality inclusive practice across the school.

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead and develop whole-school inclusive practice
  • Fulfil the strategic and operational responsibilities of the SENCo role
  • Drive improvements for vulnerable pupils
  • Oversee a structured and impactful inclusion model
  • Model excellent teaching through co-teaching, interventions and classroom practice
  • Develop staff through coaching and professional development

We are looking for a leader who:

  • Has a strong track record of improving outcomes for pupils with SEND and other vulnerable groups
  • Has secure knowledge of SEND, statutory requirements and inclusive practice
  • Demonstrates excellent classroom practice and can model this for others
  • Can lead strategically while remaining highly visible in practice
  • Can inspire, challenge and support staff effectively

At Rosebank, we are proud of our ethos:

“We are all friends and together we succeed.”

We offer a supportive team, strong professional development and the opportunity to shape inclusion at a strategic level within a diverse and vibrant school community.

Visits to school are warmly welcomed.

Rosebank Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. An enhanced DBS check is required.
