Leeds Citizens Advice & Law Centre is working for a fairer society where people are free from the effects of poverty and injustice. We are a local charity helping over 35,000 people a year with welfare benefits, debt, housing, energy issues, and more. We have a number of new job opportunities and are looking for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our dedicated team of advice professionals.
The Role:
Funded by Northern Gas Networks this project provides advice to clients experiencing or at risk of fuel poverty. You will provide advice to clients in order to maximise income through benefits and debt advice, reduce fuel debts, access increased support through the Priority Services Register, Warm Homes Discount, tariff checks and charity applications etc, as well as reducing future fuel costs by accessing support through referrals to other appropriate services.
Working alongside existing energy project advisers you will play a key role in ensuring our clients receive good quality generalist advice with a focus on alleviating fuel poverty. Clients will contact you using our telephone helpline and webchat service, therefore strong oral and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to listen, engage and empathise with potentially vulnerable clients. You should be organised and resilient, with the ability to work independently on a number of tasks to meet deadlines, and work with others across the service to provide holistic support.
You will be a good team player, delivering high quality advice to clients, and contributing to the team rota, targets, and KPIs to provide an excellent service.
Trainee opportunities
Applications are invited both from qualified/experienced advisers, and from motivated candidates looking for a career development opportunity in the advice sector.
If you can offer enthusiasm and a desire to learn, strong IT and communication skills, we’re offering training and support to reach full competence as soon as possible.
CLOSING DATE: 9am, 6 June 2025
Interviews to be held from 16 June onwards
