As a Support Assistant in Strategic Asset Management, you will be responsible for providing administrative and technical support, creating and maintaining records relating to council land and property, on our various council ownership databases, including GIS. You will work with a range of parties both internal and external to the council to provide information to support project delivery.
You will be given tailored training on the use of our GIS system to create plans needed to progress a variety of projects and programmes in Asset Management & Regeneration and the wider City Development directorate.

About you
As a Support Assistant you will bring to the role:
- Experience of communicating clearly and effectively with a wide range of people, internal teams, external partners and being able to develop strong working relationships.
- Ability to work on your own, using your initiative to and prioritise workloads to meet timescales and deadlines.
- Accurately record and retrieve information from various databases including geographical map-based software packages.
About the role
As our next Support Assistant, you will provide technical and administrative support in land records, that will assist in the successful delivery of projects. You will be part of the team delivering large capital infrastructure projects, capital receipts and the rationalisation of council property portfolio.
The role is integral to our Strategic Asset Management team as we provide technical support, data and information which supports the delivery of the projects and programmes in the service. Accurate data and information are essential to our decision-making process and property transactions. You will work closely with colleagues across the council including those in Land and Property, Legal Services, Planning and Highways and Transportation.
The role requires an enthusiastic individual who is organised and willing to learn new data systems and GIS mapping tools.

Job Description
Job Purpose:
To provide an effective and efficient administration and technical support service as part of the Asset Management and Regeneration Service.
Primary areas of work to include, the provision of specialist service support, the provision of specialist service information to partners and the public, the delivery of complex administration functions, to liaise with other services within the organisation and to support the role of the manager.
Responsibilities
- To provide a detailed, technical and administrative support service to a wide variety of teams within the Asset Management and Regeneration service.
- Organise and operate administrative systems within the service.
- Contribute to the planning, development and monitoring of support services.
- Monitoring and evaluation of the systems and processes.
- Develop good working relationships with outside agencies and stakeholders.
- Liaise between managers and other administration staff.
- Present a positive personal image, contributing to a welcoming environment for staff and visitors.
- Provide an excellent customer service to colleagues, customers and visitors to the service.
- Provide detailed analysis and evaluation of data and produce detailed reports/information as required.
- Produce information and respond to complex enquiries
- Manage complex administrative procedures
- Be responsible for completion and submission of complex forms, returns etc., including those to outside agencies.
- Provide advice and guidance to colleagues and the public on complex or technical issues.
- Undertake research and obtain information to inform decisions.

For property related responsibilities:
To assist and carry out inspections, viewings and surveys of land and premises in relation to:
- Sales, purchases, acquisitions by lease and lettings
- Rating, asset valuation and compensation matters
- Repair and maintenance
- Preparation of schedules, particulars and reports
- Granting or reserving easements, wayleaves, rights of way and access
- Determining property disputes, encroachment and regularisation
- Marketing of property
- To prepare terms for the above property transactions and negotiate and agree terms for these transactions
- Prepare reports for the approval of such terms
- Prepare instruction solutions to undertake the work to complete the above transactions
Qualifications
- Have a qualification, experience, or willingness to learn about land, property and asset management
