At Adel Beck we care for 24 young people aged 10 to 18. They are referred to us following court proceedings, placed on remand or sentenced to a period of detention, or because they need to be placed in secure accommodation for their own safety or the safety of others. You will lead a team of care practitioners who have a vital role in the daily lives and long-term outlook for the vulnerable young people at Adel Beck, who may have complex needs and display challenging behaviours.

The role
As an Instructor of Motor Vehicle Studies, you will be expected to take responsibility to give instruction and learning in vocational training in your subject area/s within the Home’s Education facility, ensuring a high quality of training that meets with Education standards and requirements.

We expect the following experience and qualifications:
- Level 4 or above Education and Training qualification
- ability to plan and deliver high quality lessons that meet the individual needs of all our students
- ability to provide high quality assessment and feedback that promotes student progress
- understanding of child and adolescent development
- understanding of restorative and trauma-informed practice
- knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and child protection and safeguarding principles
- experience of teaching in a residential childcare/education environment or of teaching in a SEND/SEMH provision
- experience of supporting children or young people with complex and challenging behaviour to engage with education activities

Role: To take responsibility to give instruction and learning in vocational training in Motor Vehicles within the Home’s Education facility, ensuring a high quality of training that meets with Education Standards, Children’s Homes regulations, Children’s Homes National Minimum Standards and the Youth Justice Standards and requirements.

Qualifications:
Level 4 or above qualification in Motor Vehicles
5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including math and English or equivalent Functional Skills Level 2 in math and English

- At least 2 years’ experience of delivering vocational training in a Motor Vehicles training setting or educational setting.
