The opportunity has arisen for an experienced SENCo to join our three form entry school in a full time non-teaching role.

Gledhow Primary School is a vibrant, inclusive, forward thinking and happy school, on a rapid journey of improvement, with a diverse pupil context and rapidly expanding numbers. We are seeking to appoint a SENCo on a temporary contract, to cover the Maternity leave of our current SENCo.

Gledhow has made swift progress in the last academic year, particularly in the area of SEND and this position will be a fantastic opportunity to lead SEND at one of the biggest primary schools in Leeds, including leading the Speech and Language Resource Provision. Our existing SENCo has worked hard to further instil a culture of inclusion, and has introduced a range of policies and practices that are starting to reap positive results. We're looking forward to welcoming a new member to our team who can continue to embed and enhance our good practice, and take the school forward in its journey of improvement.

Applications from an existing experienced SENCo would be welcome, but especially so if the candidate has undertaken the National Award for SEN Coordinator.

We require the following skills/qualities :

• An excellent communicator, both spoken and written with good organisational skills, warmth and enthusiasm for maximising the progress/independence of SEN pupils

• Someone who is proactive in change management, able to organise and implement a whole school SEN Action Plan with energy and enthusiasm.

• An energetic practitioner with the knowledge, skills and understanding of a range of teaching, learning and assessment strategies to make a positive impact on the progress of pupils who have a range of barriers to learning.

Visits to the school are welcomed and times have been identified to look around:-

- Tuesday 27th August 3pm
- Thursday 5th September 4:30
- Friday 6th September 10am

Please contact Mrs Sarah Parkinson (Head Teacher) by email to arrange a visit at: head@gledhowschool.org

If you require further information about the role, please contact the school on telephone: 0113 2930392 or you can visit the school website at www.gledhow.leeds.sch.uk/leeds/primary/gledhow

To apply for this job, please download and complete the application form attached.

Application forms should be returned to the Headteacher at the school either by email – head@gledhowschool.org or by post to the school address at the top of the page, by 13th September 2019.

Shortlisting – Monday 16th Setpember - those being shortlisted will be informed immediately.

Interviews – Thursday 26th September

Should you be selected for interview, please bring with you a signed hard copy of your application form.

Our school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful candidate will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

We promote diversity and want a workforce which reflects the population of Leeds.
