Leeds City Council, City Development and Active Leeds are committed to swimming in Leeds. The programme develops athletes competing at all levels of the swimming pathway from county to the Olympic level. We are therefore looking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and dedicated swimming professional to be an integral member of staff for our successful Swimming Training Scheme. Purpose of the Job:

To assist the Training Scheme Manager (Head Coach) and the Age Group Coach in effectively delivering the Leeds City Council’s Swimming Training Scheme at an age group and developmental level.

To visit stage 8 swimming lessons supporting and mentoring teachers in collaboration with the Aquatics Manager and Swimming Co-ordinators.

Identify talented swimmers on behalf of the Swimming Training Scheme to be promoted in to the competitive pathway of Leeds City Council structure.

We are looking for a person to be a key part of our full-time aquatics team working toward a common goal to raise the levels of aquatic achievement in the city. The successful candidate will work closely with the Training Scheme Manager (Head Coach) and Age Group coach in delivering leadership, coach mentoring and coaching to swimming pathway. The role is integral to our talent identification strategy and has a positive impact on the development of our International level athletes that the programme produces.

The person will be the face of the Swimming Training Scheme around the City, engaging with centre mangers, staff and teachers. The successful person will have demonstrated excellent communication skills and have the ability to converse with a wide range of people within the Swimming Training Scheme and the council staffing structure. An important part of the role is visiting Stage 8 groups around the city, mentoring teacher and coaches improving knowledge and delivery.

You should possess:

Coached within a structured competitive swimming programme.

Relevant management skills to lead and motivate a team of swimming coaches educating and mentoring them.

Have coached swimmers to qualify for National and Regional Championships.

UKCC Level 2 Coaching Swimming and Level 3 UKCC Coaching Swimming Qualification or working towards the level 3 as a minimum or Swim England equivalent.

Have suitable IT skills to present reports and proposals for the development of Swimming.

Excellent communication skills to engage Coaches, swimmers, parents and key partners.
