‘Leeds has placed a considerable emphasis on creating an environment where good quality social work can flourish.’ Ofsted 2015

Leeds is going from good to great!

As one of Britain’s largest cities; the vibrancy of city centre, fantastic culture and leisure opportunities contribute to Leeds becoming the best city to live in.  We are determined that all children in Leeds enjoy good outcomes and our commitment to become a truly ‘Child Friendly’ City has placed children at the heart of all we do and brought the whole city together behind our ambition.  This has been driven by the ‘outstanding, inspirational and confident operational and political leadership’ Ofsted.

Our vision is to ensure that vulnerable children and young people in the city receive excellent social work services, where they can be confident in the experience and knowledge of our senior social workers to lead on keeping them safe.

We are driven by a set of strong Council values and have embedded restorative practice, working with families to achieve better outcomes. ‘A unique investment and commitment to Restorative Practice is having a transformational impact on culture and professional practice across both the social work service and the Children’s Partnership. This places children, young people and their families at the heart of the decisions which affect them.’ Ofsted

This commitment to innovation as a regional leader has been rewarded by a £5million funding stream from the Innovation Council. The money will be used to strengthen our capacity to deliver high quality services in restorative practice and family group conferences.

If you are an exceptional, motivated, dedicated practitioner; able to demonstrate a proven experience of effectively:

  • Undertaking child protection cases and care proceedings with considerable autonomy.
  • Supervising students, trainees, support staff or volunteers as a practice educator;
  • Managing a high level, complex and diverse caseload within agreed parameters policy and procedures.

Then we would like you to apply to become part of our team as a senior social worker.  We want you to inspire us and have a real impact on the way we work. In return you will gain the opportunity to develop your professional skills and your career in a challenging but supportive environment.

What’s your contribution to getting us from good to great?

We offer a competitive package including a CARE pension scheme and up to 33 days holiday entitlement and a comprehensive development programme.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults. We promote diversity and want a workforce that reflects the population of Leeds.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Level Check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).

It is also subject to you being registered with the Health and Care Professions Council.
