Schools and Young People’s Lead
Job Purpose
To manage, plan, develop and promote imaginative and creative educational and learning opportunities for schools and young people at the Farm. To directly deliver outdoor environmental education & learning activities with schools and young people as part of our existing and new programmes. To be a Designated Safeguarding Lead (Young People) within the organisation.
Place of Work: Meanwood Valley Urban Farm, Leeds LS7 2QG
Pay: £13.91 per hour. Permanent role
Hours of Work: 22 hours per week
Specific Responsibilities
- Manage, plan, develop and promote existing and new imaginative, and creative educational opportunities available to schools and young people.
- Manage the Farm’s education service to schools including all liaison with schools e.g. around bookings, capturing feedback, updating of lesson plans.
- To directly deliver our outdoor educational projects and guided tours to schools/visitors
- To ensure our school projects are meeting the needs of schools and the curriculum.
- To ensure the educational and learning offer provided to schools and young people is of a consistently high standard.
- To be responsible for the maintenance and updating of learning materials used with schools and young people.
- To be responsible for preparing and maintaining risk assessments in relation to the schools and young people’s service and for COSHH regulations (formerly known as the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations) relating to the schools and young people’s service.
- Prepare reports as required e.g. for funders, management committee.
- To organise, raise funds for, manage and deliver a holiday playscheme for local young people.
- To work with the Farm’s Finance Officer to oversee the schools and young people’s service budget.
- To be a Designated Safeguarding Lead (Young People) within the organisation and to undertake regular safeguarding training. To promote wellbeing, safety and safeguard young people from abuse, recognising and responding to signs of abuse and neglect, ensuring that all safeguarding concerns are reported as per the farm’s Safeguarding procedures.
- To supervise education volunteers as necessary.
