Ofsted inspectors have just rated Leeds City Council ‘outstanding’ for the impact of leaders on practice with children and families; ‘outstanding’ for the experiences and progress of children who need help and protection; and ‘good’ for the experiences and progress of children in care and care leavers. As a result, the overall judgement for services in Leeds is ‘outstanding’ - making it the only ‘core city’ in the country to be rated so highly.

But the journey is not ending there, Leeds needs outstanding Registered Children’s Homes Managers to become part of the Children’s Residential Service, to develop a more specialist service of residential care to looked after children.

Do you have what it takes? You are eligible if you can demonstrate you already have:

 (a) within the last 5 years, worked for at least 2 years in a position relevant to the residential care of children;

(b) worked for at least one year in a role requiring the supervision and management of staff working in a care role; and

(c) by the relevant date, attained—

(i) the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) (“the Level 5 Diploma”); or

(ii) a qualification which the registered provider considers to be equivalent to the Level 5
