Kitchen Preparation Assistant: Permanent
Hours 37.5 hours per week: 7.00am to 3.00pm, Monday to Friday, during term time, plus 5 INSET days. 30 minutes unpaid lunch break.
Salary: Salary range GS1 points 9 -10 (£17,173 – £17,391 per annum, full time equivalent. Actual salary payable £15,620 – £15,813 per annum). Appointment will be made at point 9. Actual hourly rate payable £8.90.
An enthusiastic and dedicated Kitchen Preparation Assistant is required to join the busy Catering department to help with the smooth running of the extensive catering service.
Our Catering team provide a high quality and extensive range of catering services including: a daily breakfast, lunch and after-school service for pupils and staff; refreshments for extra-curricular activities – sports teas; concerts, theatrical productions etc; catering support for external clients, including: conferences, wedding receptions, dinner dances and sporting events.
The successful candidate will be expected to play a full part in the running of this very busy catering department. Duties will include the preparation and presentation of all meals and services, the completion of appropriate food records, and ensuring adherence to statutory regulations pertaining to the safe and hygienic operation of the kitchen.
The successful candidate will be educated to Level 2 and have GSCE Maths and English (or equivalent). Though not essential, NVQ Level 1 in food preparation and Level 2 food hygiene and safety would be advantageous. The successful candidate will also have experience of working in a customer facing role and have the ability to communicate to all levels.
Catering staff need to be available to work some ad hoc days during the school holiday periods, such as events.
