Leeds Community Foundation is looking for 3 new trustees to join the Board of Trustees.

We’re seeking three new trustees to join our board at a pivotal moment. With growing demand for our support and bold ambitions for the years ahead, we’re looking for individuals who bring fresh perspectives, lived experience and a deep commitment to our region.

As a trustee, you’ll help shape the Foundation’s strategic direction, ensure strong governance and champion our mission to create a fairer Leeds for everyone. You’ll work alongside a committed board and leadership team to guide decision-making, uphold our values and amplify our impact.

Key responsibilities

As a trustee, you’ll:

  • Contribute to strategic planning and oversight of our programmes and partnerships.
  • Ensure financial sustainability and regulatory compliance.
  • Act as an ambassador for the Foundation, leveraging networks to support fundraising and influence.
  • Promote equity, inclusion and community voice in all aspects of governance.
  • Support and challenge the Chief Executive Officer and Senior Leadership Team with insight, empathy and rigour.

Who we’re looking for

We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds and experiences. You don’t need prior board experience, just a commitment to our mission and a willingness to learn. We’re particularly interested in candidates who bring one or more of the following:

  • Experience in organisational development, people change and culture.
  • Professional advisory skills and/or philanthropy.
  • Leadership experience with statutory partners.
  • Lived experience of the communities we serve.
  • Expertise in digital transformation.
  • Strong local networks in Leeds.
  • Passion for social justice, community development or philanthropy.

We’re particularly interested in hearing from people who reflect the diversity of our communities and can offer fresh perspectives on how we serve them.

What we can offer you

  • A meaningful opportunity to shape local change.
  • A supportive and inclusive board culture.
  • Full induction and continuing personal development in governance, leadership and strategic thinking.
  • The chance to support the Foundation’s activities, for example, by joining grants panels and working groups, and attending events.
  • Visits to grant holders to gain first-hand experience of the vital work we fund and more.
