The Headteacher and Governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, highly effective Teaching Assistant with a strong focus on Behaviour Support to join our happy, safe and inclusive school.
- Work closely with SENDco, Pastoral Team, teachers, support staff and senior leaders to provide tailored support for pupils with SEMH needs.
- Build positive, trusting relationships to help pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
- Contribute to individual behaviour plans and implement consistent strategies.
- Support pupils in managing and understanding their emotions, developing resilience and improving engagement in lessons.
- Encourage positive behaviour through de-escalation, restorative approaches and proactive support.
- Assist with academic learning, adapting tasks to meet individual needs.
- Create a calm, structured and supportive environment across the school day.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
- Experience of supporting children with challenging behaviour or SEMH needs
- Experience of supporting pupils with reading/writing/maths
- Experience of supporting children with SEND
- Patience, understanding, empathy and emotional resilience
- A calm, positive and proactive attitude
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Lots of initiative
- The ability to work successfully and professionally as part of a team
- A firm commitment to follow school policies and practice
- Desirable but not essential – Team Teach training level 1, or a willingness to undertake this training.
