Salary: NJC points 4 to 6 depending on qualifications and experience £25,185 - £25,989 pro rata (£12,959 - £13,372 actual salary for 22 hours per week plus “sleep in” payment. As part of this role, you will be required to do 2 “sleep ins” per week. if you complete eight sleep-ins per month, that will add approximately £344 per month to your gross salary)
Hours: 22, term time only - no weekends, plus 2 "sleep-ins" per week

St John’s Catholic Specialist School is a school for young people up to 19 years with special educational needs. Our mission is to support our students to gain the knowledge and skills they will need to thrive in adult life.
We are looking for caring individuals to join a team of experienced and supportive colleagues working with St John’s students at school or college. Every day is different and staff work with pupils with a range of different needs, which include sensory impairments, communication and learning challenges or autism. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team of dedicated professionals who are committed to providing the very best life chances for our students. We also support young people by promoting positive mental health and wellbeing.
Our residential care team support young people outside the school day, and a typical shift would be 2pm to 11pm with an overnight sleep-in for which an additional allowance is paid, then 7am-9am the following morning.
The role includes:
- Supporting students in a wide range of leisure activities
- Developing our young people’s independence and their skills in meal planning, cooking and general organisation skills.
- Supporting students’ health and well-being as well as giving medication
- Enhancing pupils’ communication skills
- Promoting pupils’ self-esteem, independence and participation within the school and wider community
